I'M CHRIS

I started PianoCabin with the idea that the environment I create in my private classes can be shared on a broader scale. An environment where learning is fun and inspiring, creativity and exploring new ideas is encouraged and where the musical potential of everyone involved blossoms.

Everyone learns in their own way and I hope here you find the tools to unlock new worlds of music within you!

MY STORY

My aunt first introduced me to the piano when I was a really young but I didn't start formal lessons until 7 years old when I lived in England.

It always felt so natural to me.

I'm sure many can relate, that being more introverted it was a whole new inner world that I would go into and explore for hours at a time. Music was always being played around the home. From Marvin Gaye to Oscar Peterson, to Beethoven to Simon & Garfunkel...all new worlds to explore.

Fast forward a few years I move back to the U.S. where I attend Berklee College of Music studying Piano and Film Composition. After graduation I move to Los Angeles and start teaching.

I noticed that so many of the tools out there for teachers and students learning music were outdated and not visually exciting. I've always had a passion for graphics and for me the visual and musical realms can dance together.

During the period of time where I started teaching online I realized that I had to adapt my teaching style. Sometimes a limitation can give birth to new ideas. Now all of my teaching was limited to what I can show in a box on a screen. I started to create some graphics to help my students. Simple chord charts etc. I was also drawing more on the screen and on sheet music I was sharing over zoom. These graphics turned to short videos and animations and after a few years of developing PianoCabin was born.
